Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure used to examine a person’s digestive tract. Using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, the physician views pictures of digestive tract of the patient on a color TV monitor.
The field of endoscopic procedure has developed over the last decade thanks to the advent of new technology and modern endoscopic equipments. Endoscopy, by using different data, is now helping us to understand pathogenic mechanisms, diagnostic procedures and therapeutic procedures. Consequently, endoscopy has surpassed its function as an examination tool and it has now become a rapid and efficient therapeutic tool of various organs including gastrointestinal tract, head and neck, respiratory tract and others.
There are not much educational material available for learning endoscopy and this course aims to fill this void. Students pursuing medicine and physicians performing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures in their practices will find this course very useful.
